Mrs. Iowa International 2015 - Jill Barr

Yesterday we had a wonderful guest come to our classroom!
Mrs. Jill Barr, from Spencer was a guest reader in our room.
She was named Mrs. Iowa International 2015 in November 2014 and will be competing in the final
competition
in Jacksonville, Florida, July 24-25, 2015!

Along with reading a story, Jill did a service project with the students! The service project was for veterans who are sick in the hospital, the kids made cards for those veterans!
The students did awesome with writing "Thank You!" and "Get Well!". They were excited and proud of their cards!
Thank you Jill Barr for a wonderful morning in preschool!

Dear Zoo....

The last few weeks we have been learning about zoo animals. We wrote a letter to the zoo if we could have a pet we would want... then the students had to choose an animal, draw it, and write the name too! The students did awesome with this project! We then made it in to a class book!

A few days later, a few of the kids built a zoo in the block center!

Farmer in the Dell

This week learning about nursery rhymes, we did the Farmer in the Dell. During our morning table toys, I had a student who drew the rat taking the cheese! Love how creative and artistic the kids are!

There Were Ten in the Bed...

We read a nursery rhyme story in our classroom and this one was their favorite one,
"There Were Ten in the Bed!".
The kids loved recreating this nursery rhyme!

I Love To Read!

We had another parent come down and
read to our class this week!

Thank you to McKenna's mom!
They love having someone new come to our
room to read them a story!

Humpty Dumpty!

The last few weeks we have been talking about rhyming! We have been singing lots of nursery rhymes too! We have been using many props for the nursery rhymes and for humpty dumpty we decided to use eggs to tell this one!

We had a raw egg and a hard boiled egg and we tested the eggs to see the differences in them! Their reactions were priceless and it was pretty tricky to figure out why one cracked and splattered while the other one did not!

We had many ideas on making the wall taller so the egg would break!

And taller...

Then we tried having it fall to the ground.

Hmmm... we had to show them!

Valentine's Party Part: 2!

Of course who could have a party with out a special treat? The students were able to decorate their own cupcake and eat it too! :)

Before we could eat our cupcake we listened to a wonderful story from Berkley's sister, Kylie!

Before going home after our fun day, we made a craft for our parents! They were to tear the paper to glue on the paper that said, "I love you to pieces!"
